This has got to be the easiest, quickest and most fun Halloween treat to make! How have I not heard of mummy dogs until this year? I made these for my sister and brother when they came over. They loved them and how they actually look like mummy’s. I found the recipe on Pillsbury’s website and I will definitely be making these from now on every year for Halloween!
The hot dogs, we ended up making 8 mummy dogs and boiled the others, so people had choices
I bought the crescent packaged dough
I split the dough at the seams so there are 4 sections of horizontal rectangles
I used my pizza slicer and made 10 strips of dough that were about 1/2 inch in length
I took 2 slices of cheese and split one slice into 4 equal pieces, so I had 8 total slices
I put the cheese on the bottom of the hot dog. Using 4 dough strips for each hot dog, I wrapped the strips around, making it look like a mummy.
I left a opening for the eyes. This is what they looked like before they went in the oven
When they were all done baking! I used mustard for the eyes and they look like Mummy’s!
What You Need:
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
- 2 1/2 slices American cheese, quartered (2.5 oz)
- 8 large hot dogs (Or however many you want to make)
- Cooking spray
- Mustard or ketchup, if desired
- Pizza cutter
- Heat oven to 375°F.
- Unroll dough; separate at perforations, creating 4 rectangles. Press perforations to seal.
- With pizza cutter, cut each rectangle lengthwise into 10 pieces, making a total of 40 pieces of dough. Slice cheese slices into quarters (1/2 slice cheese, cut in half).
- Wrap 4 pieces of dough around each hot dog and 1/4 slice of cheese to look like “bandages,” stretching dough slightly to completely cover hot dog. About 1/2 inch from one end of each hot dog, separate “bandages” so hot dog shows through for “face.”
- On un-greased large cookie sheet, place wrapped hot dogs (cheese side down); spray dough lightly with cooking spray.
- Bake 13 to 17 minutes or until dough is light golden brown and hot dogs are hot.
- With mustard, draw features on “face.”
