How does paint and sip work?

The basics:

A professional painting class (or lecture series) is a fun way to get outside and paint with friends and co-workers. You’ll get a free canvas for your painting, along with paint, brushes, and anything else you might need to complete your masterpiece. At the end of the class, there will be wine or beer (or another alcoholic beverage of choice) on hand to sip as you work.

The paint: Choose from many different types–something that’s right for you.

What do I need for a paint and sip party?

* A canvas you can paint on. You will have a luscious painting to take home at the end!

* Paint and brushes. There are many paints and brushes available for purchase. ( (A great place to shop is at Jerry’s Artarama, a global art supply store with locations in more than 20 countries.)

* Some way to hang your masterpiece once you’re done.

Also, be sure to have anything else you might need during the class, such as drink towels or water bottles for frequent sips.

How much paint do I need for a paint and sip party?

You will need an average of 2 oz. of paint to complete a 16×20 inch canvas. (If you’ve never painted on canvas before, it dries much more quickly than paper.) Keep in mind that you’ll need a variety of colors, so stock up on your favorites.

What should I do the night before my paint and sip?

Eat a light dinner if you plan on painting. Make sure to drink lots of water so that you are well-hydrated throughout the class.

What should I wear to a paint and sip?

At a paint and sip, you will drink a lot of wine, beer, and possibly other alcoholic beverages. You will also be painting on canvas. This means that you should wear clothes that are easy to move in.

How old do I have to be?

You must be legal to attend a paint and sip party. If you are under the age of 21, you will need to bring your parent(s) or guardian(s) along with you.

How long are sip and paint parties?

Paint and Sip events typically last for two hours, but that can vary depending on the size of the group.

Most paint and sip events charge by the seat, with a minimum of 4 seats or a maximum of 10 seats per order. Costs vary, but $24 to $34 per person is fairly standard.

Do you tip at paint and sip?

It also provides an opportunity to socialize with others who share your interest in drinking wine and learning how to paint. For these reasons, it is no surprise that the paint-and-sip experience has become popular in many parts of the world.
