How to start the New Year Feeling Refreshed

Every year ends the same for most people. You feel bloated from all the food, you’re exhausted from the Christmas and New Year celebrations and you’re sad because it’s all over, and maybe because you spent and drank a little too much.

Wouldn’t it be great to start the new year feeling refreshed and ready to go?

In this article, we’ll look at a few different strategies you can explore to help you feel refreshed for the year ahead.

1: Sleep

This one is incredibly important. The more sleep you get, the better you will feel. Try and have early nights in January. When it gets dark early, there’s no point in staying up late unless you need too. On your days off, aim to have a sleep in. This will do wonders for your health.

You need to try and have around 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep per night, as a good night’s sleep helps the immune system and boosts mental wellbeing. So, try and catch those ZZZ.

2: Relax

Take time to do nothing! And if you find it hard to relax, then why not visit a spa? There’s nothing more relaxing and luxurious than going to a spa. The staff will do it all for you – the treatments, the massages, the saunas – and you don’t have to lift a finger.

Make sure you’ve researched the spa beforehand to ensure you know it’s equipped with all the treatments you desire, like the top spa in Yorkshire, Titanic Spa, the UK’s first Eco-Spa. Fully equipped establishments like this one offer something for everyone, from facial treatments to massages to a simple dip in the pool.

What better way to start the year than visiting a spa?

3: Tidy

There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing your home tidy after a particularly messy period, and this can also contribute towards you feeling refreshed and ready to go. Once the decorations are down, give your house a good clean so that it’s ready for the new year. The satisfaction you gain from this will quickly become evident.

Clutter can be stressful and cleaning provides relief from this. Not only that, but you can also use cleaning as an exercise, which is perfect if you need to burn off all those extra calories you consumed during the festive period. You’re effectively doing two healthy things at once here – cleaning and exercising.

4: Nutrition

Starting the year on a healthy note can be a great way to feel refreshed. Slowly start to get rid of the junk food in your kitchen (keep some for treats, of course) and replace them with healthier options, like veggies and non-processed foods.

Also, try to drink more water. Keeping hydrated will definitely give you a boost and make you feel refreshed. Best of all, it can improve your mood and aid weight loss.

5: Reduce your time on social media

And finally, try your hardest to reduce your time on social media. It’s easier said than done, but you will feel the benefits pretty much straight away. The less time you spend on social media, the happier you will feel.

Give it a go!

Go on, give a few of these strategies a go, and see if you feel refreshed in 2020.
