Riddles cause one to think and determine a solution to the question at hand. They enrich the mind and strengthen neurological connections in the brain at the same time. Riddles have existed since spoken word. No one knows the first battle but riddles like anything have evolved and some remain timeless. What goes on four legs in the morning, on two legs at noon, and on three legs in the evening?

Answer: A man, crawling as a baby, walking as a man and as an old man walking with a cane.

Gollum gives Bilbo a riddle, and Bilbo’s life depends on getting it right because he is stuck deep in a dark cave with no way out.

And beats mountain down.”

Answer: Time.
