Top 5 Cleaning Hacks

We all want a spotless home, and to achieve that, you need to know some useful cleaning hacks to make it more efficient and to save more money on cleaning materials.

Here are five cleaning hacks that you can do for your home:

1) Glass and mirrors

Cleaning your mirrors doesn’t have to be tedious. All you need are rubbing alcohol and a micro fibre cloth and you’re all set. You begin by rubbing off the dirt with rubbing alcohol. Use the glass cleaner of your choice and wipe it down with your micro fibre cloth via zig-zag motion — and then you’ll have a spotless mirror that is pleasing to the eyes.

2) Dust away

We all hate dust and ironically, it’s easy to collect dust at the some of the hard-to-reach places in the house such as your ceiling and walls. The key to removing the dust in these areas is to use a broom covered with pantyhose. Spray the head with lavender spray as well to help ward off insects. For ornaments in your home, you don’t have to pick each one and dust them off — we all know this is time-consuming and just the thought of it can make you leave it for another day. An easy way to do this is to place your ornaments inside a pillowcase one at a time and remove their dust with a hairdryer.

A tidy and neat bathroom is essential. When about to clean a bathroom, remove everything inside, such as the shampoos, soaps, etc. It’s easier to clean a bathroom when it’s empty. Use bicarb soda and spray white vinegar on the surfaces. It will fizzle; hence, sweep it with a soft broom that is covered with pantyhose. Do the same thing on the walls using what’s left of the solution on the pantyhose. This will also make it easier for you to get into any smaller areas in the bathroom. When you’re done, dry the floor with an old towel.

4) Scuff marks

Scuff marks are an issue, especially if you have hardwood floors. Use a tennis ball to get rid of them. A tennis ball is great to use because of its thick felt that is an excellent material that can effectively remove scuff marks. Also, it’s non-abrasive, so you don’t have to worry about damaging your wood floors. Put the tennis ball on the end of the broom to make scuff marks removal more efficient. Cleaning companies will often note that they will not clean surfaces which are damaged from significant scuffs/scratches because of issues with creating further damage, so dealing with these issues before they become larger problems is important.

5) Kitchen bins

Your kitchen bins can get stinky. Consider triple lining your bin to get extra protection against what’s inside the bag from seeping out or being absorbed into the bin. Just use a few additional layers to make sure your bin doesn’t stink.

These five hacks will make cleaning your home more efficient. Try them out and say hello to a cleaner, fresher, and tidier home. Plus, the materials you’ll be using are already in your home, hence you don’t have to spend any more money.
