Vrsar - Croatia,

Travelling by motorhome is very convenient. It’s a great way to build strong relationships with friends and family members, explore new countries, and simply enjoy your freedom!

Motorhome owners don’t have to think about plane tickets or accommodation. They can pack everything they need and go whenever the wind leads. For a lot of people, RV is not a vehicle, it is a lifestyle.

If you plan to rent your first motorhome, here is what you need to know:

Calculate the expenses

On the one hand, you will be able to save a lot of money during your travel. First of all, you can buy groceries in bulk and cook in your little motorhome kitchen. Secondly, you don’t need to pay extra for accommodation. You can sleep and take showers in your motorhome wherever you are!

On the other hand, you will have to take into account the camping and gas expenses. Avoid petrol stations on the highway since they are more pricey than the ones in the small towns. Also, find all the parking slots in advance in order to avoid overpaying.

Choose the right RV

There are different types of motorhomes (Class A, Class B, and Class C). If you go with your family (spouse and two kids), consider renting Class A, since it has a lot of space. If you are travelling with your partner only, Class B or C can be a good option.

Keep in mind that Class C is one of the most economical types of motorhome.

Get insurance

You should understand that different situations might occur during your vacation. If it’s your first time travelling by motorhome, consider getting insurance within your budget. In case you are stuck on the road, you will only need to call your insurance provider and explain the situation.

Practice driving

Before you hit the road, try driving a motorhome on the empty parking slot. RV is not a car. You should pay attention to turns and continuously use mirrors when you park (since you can’t see what’s happening behind a motorhome).
