Inspiring Kitchen Renovation Ideas

Normally, you would think that your living room is the most important room in your home. This is where you probably spend most of your free time, with either family or friends. Or, is it? Don’t you spend a healthy chunk of your time having breakfast, cooking meals, making coffee or tea for you and your significant other? Isn’t it really the kitchen where all the action is? It is no wonder that you wish to redecorate it not only for your own pleasure but for the pleasure (and perhaps, a little bit of envy) of your guests, too.

Luckily for you, we’ve prepared a number of ideas for you to consider. Also, you needn’t break the bank with these. Some of them are DIY projects, while others are easily achievable with a simple guide on how to reduce home improvement costs.

New old Cabinets

Let’s start from the most obvious. Renovating the kitchen usually means changing the cabinets. However, you needn’t turn your kitchen upside down for this. Rather, you could:

  • Replace the doors on the existing cabinets to give the room a completely new look
  • Apply a fresh coat of paint (preferably white or any lighter color)
  • Replace the handles (simple, yet very effective)

By doing one of these (or all of them!) your kitchen would already seem to have undergone a complete makeover!

Let the light in

In every possible way. First of all, take a look at your lighting fixtures. It might just be time to replace them and fortunately, there is no shortage of options to choose from. Also, pay attention to the windows. Try buying new curtains to change that part of the room as well.

New appliances

This can be pricey, but it definitely pays off in the long run. First of all, new cookers, fridges, and dishwashers are energy efficient, which will save you quite a bit in electricity bills every year. Secondly, they immediately raise the overall home value. Thirdly, you will love them, because you know you’ve deserved them.

Magic Tiles

We call them magic because they can completely change the feel of the room. For instance, you can replace the backsplash tiles and it is already a huge change. You could go for the very modern reflective ones if that’s your style. Also, if you like hardwood floors, you can finally have one by putting up tiles which look exactly like that.

Built-in garage

A small built-in appliance garage is really cool to show off, and it’s even more practical since it’s hiding all of your small appliances in one place.

An open bar

At least, at your home. With some cool bar stools, the sight will be pretty inviting and relaxing for any kind of social gathering.

New shiny countertop

If possible, get yourself one made of granite. It looks just as impressive as it sounds, boasting true luxury. Alternatively, if you’re working with a smaller budget, you can use other materials. This is one of the changes that is perhaps the most noticeable, even though it’s only one part of your kitchen.

A stylish sink

By this, we mean that the sink should match the overall style your kitchen (traditional, Mediterranean, modern…). Make sure you pick one that is high quality. In addition, pay special attention to the choice of faucet. Touchless kitchen faucets are an excellent choice. They are easy to use, stylish and modern.

A nice nook

How many times have you wished to take a short break while cooking? In that case, take a look around and decide on a corner that can be turned into a small, special place just for you. A couple of pillows, a cup of coffee, and it’s all set.

As you can see, there are numerous things one can do around this (special) room. You’ve got plenty of ideas now, so choose the best for you (and your budget), set the date for action, and enjoy your (brand) new kitchen!
