Death of Medina Spirit

On December 6, 2021, Medina died when he was only 3 years old. He suddenly collapsed and then died at the Santa Anita Park, where he was doing a 5-furlong workout. His rider was not hurt. It is said that Medina’s death was caused due to heart attack.

Bob stated that he and his team were devastated by the news of Medina’s death, and he considered him one of his family members.

Later Craig Robertson, Bob’s attorney, stated that the anti-inflammatory betamethasone steroid found in Medina’s body during Kentucky Derby did not regulate properly by the Kentucky State rules.

The Kentucky State rules stated that the steroid was to treat Medina’s skin condition and was not used for better performance.

At the University of California, Medina’s body will undergo a necropsy, including tissue sampling, forensics, and toxicology.
