Unawareness of the drastic weather condition, Goddess Lakshmi covered him from the heat of the sun in the disguise of Badri tree. Pleased by the devotion of Goddess Laxmi, Lord Vishnu named the place as Badrinath.

“There are many spots of pilgrimage in the heaven, earth and the world, but there has been none equal to Badri, nor shall there be”; as per the ancient texts. Regardless, Badrinath is ideally termed as one of the holiest places, the place is settled by the popular sage, Adi Sankaracharya.
