Road Trip from New York

The ongoing pandemic and dissociation of flights have halted our plans to travel. But the phased reopening in the States has surely given us wings to take a road trip from New York with precautions and safety measures.

As an avid road traveler and living in New York City, one can get the feeling of being caged claustrophobic during the lockdown. The road comes as a breath of fresh air in such a challenging time. I planned a short and two-day trip with my wife. The first thing is the sanitization process of the car and stocking up on alcohol based wipes, carrying sanitizers and plenty of gloves, and finally masking up.

The road trip from New York takes time to reach Wichita Falls is 23 hours, 45 minutes. Keep in mind that if you are experiencing any symptoms then crossing the border might lead to the subject of approval, testing, and quarantine. So, my suggestion would be to take a test and plan once you are allowed to travel. If you get tired by driving, stop at a motel for the night or halt at Indianapolis to refuel yourself.

The road trip from New York also depends on whether you are splitting the drive with your partner or you are the lone driver. In my case, my wife and I are cool with driving. Check for weather conditions before planning a road trip from New York and don’t forget to check Google maps navigation, frankly it was of huge help.

Next on the card is to find decent and affordable hotels in Wichita Falls tx and the internet can drive you crazy with the innumerable options. Gladly, I could find the perfect place to stay and also unwind, all at the same time. My search stopped at OYO Hotel, the hotel staff followed all the protocols and were properly trained. The property nestled on the 8th Street and the close attractions are Wichita Falls bus stop, Kell House Museum, Lake Wichita Park, Wichita Falls Railroad Museum, Kay Yeager Coliseum, and Lucy Park. The hotel also offers a lot of amenities such as free Wifi, valet parking, anytime check-in (great for people who drive and visit here) at an astounding price!

Lucy Park is situated at a distance of 5-6 minutes from the hotel and the park itself is gorgeous and surrounded by a 1.7-mile concrete trail. The falls are an easy one-mile walk from the entrance near the highway for a shorter hike.

We also drove across this town and discovered some great places to visit such as World’s littlest Skyscraper– it has a spot on Ripley’s believe it or not, Wee Chi Tah, is popular hikers, Wichita Falls brewing and for food everyone in the town suggested – Gidget’s Sandwich Shack and lastly, The Museum of North Texas – we didn’t visit the museum but crossed it!

After discovering the new falls at Wichita Falls, we had to visit them. We took a walk along the Wichita River to find them in Lucy Park. Surprisingly, the residents of Wichita Falls were always asked “Where are the falls?” after the real waterfall of Wichita Falls, was destroyed by a storm in 1886. Finally, in 1987, new falls were constructed. – I learned this only after my travel here.

If you want to go out and discover nature and are into hiking or wish to take a long drive from the chaos and noise of a city then you must pay a visit here, people are great and friendly. I’m a country boy who enjoys open spaces and adventures!
