Education System

Education is the most fundamental and early investment in a child’s life and plays a pivotal role in the upbringing of society. Thus, the educational system should be enabled to function in a hassle-free manner that produces learned, civilized and leadership-oriented youth for a prosperous future. Unfortunately, the current educational setup has numerous issues and concerns which hinder the production of educated scholars in the country. From primary education to higher education, the entire educational setup faces challenges, specially in this technically advanced world. The system currently encounters challenges that need to be seriously addressed as soon as possible. These problems include basic ones like lack of government funding and unavailability of adequate skilled teaching staff to vast issues like scarcity of student loans for higher studies and outdated curriculum.

Offering high school teaching necessitates the establishment of systems that provide education to hundreds of kids each week in academic institutions. Smart policy formulation, positive government-level engagement, and adequate execution ability are necessary for comprehensive education revisions. Most governments find it difficult to make optimal use of resources, and significantly larger education expenditure generally does not lead to increased knowledge or enhanced human development. Tackling these hurdles necessitates coordination at all segments of the process. There is an urgent need for highly qualified personnel with professional education like Master of Science in Education in Curriculum & Instruction and can help work out solutions for existing educational problems. Various issues associated with today’s education system include the following.

1. Lack Of Government Funding

Due to the poor economic situation around the globe, governments do not fully provide funds for educational institutions. This results in a lack of facilities, and consequently, the quality of education has deteriorated over time in public schools, which account for more than 70% of schools worldwide.

2. School Security

All parents are concerned over the safety of their children while sending them to schools, as there have been reported incidents of mass shootings and terrorist attacks on schools in the recent past. Since then, school security has been tightened considerably, but the world is not yet free of this issue in particular. This means that the system needs to look more into ensuring the safety of school goers. According to reports, well over half of the high school students expressed concern about the risk of assault weapons crimes in the school building. A few asserted that putting extra responsibility on teachers and permitting them to carry hidden pistols will make institutions safer, while others keep arguing that more weaponry on campus will cause more serious accidents.

3. Qualification and Adaptation

There is a shortage of highly skilled and qualified teaching faculty in most public schools. It’s only inevitable that if pupils change, teaching staff must adjust as well. Teachers that are adequately skilled to address the requirements of diverse student groups, recognize the significance of remote learning, and are motivated to voice up to encourage instructional reforms are essential in the American education system. Effective restructuring to match the required education standard is unachievable without these professionals.

4. Cost Of Education Is Out Of Control

As per the National Center for Education Studies, low-income children accounted for a large portion of the public-school population in America. The cost of education is too much of a burden on lower-middle-class parents. It is difficult to sponsor their child’s education, and they prefer them working and earning for the family from a young age. Private institutions, although providing quality education but are only feasible for the elite upper class of the society.

5. High Student to Teacher Ratio

In schools around more than 30 to 40 students are being taught by single teachers who cannot provide attention and individual guidance to them. Students just do not receive the personalized attention they require. As a result, many pupils lag others, resulting in poor educational and academic performance.

6. The Ratio of Gender Discrimination

In a highly male dominant society, the gender gap between students is alarming. For every 10 boys enrolled in a school, there are only 4 girls comparatively. These statistics show that parents discriminate amongst their children based on their gender and more often only allow their boys to study as they will have to find jobs to secure their futures and earn for their families.

7. Exam Based Assessments

In the current system, which consists of annual examinations to evaluate students’ academic performance, students have been noticed to focus on learning ways to just pass exams rather than enjoying the learning phase and concentrating on learning useful and productive concepts. There should be individual assignment-based classroom assessments so that children focus on the learning part of their education. (Cialis)

8. Remote Learning

As of recent times, due to the outbreak of the COVID-19, many schools resorted to online remote learning techniques, including virtual classes on zoom and MS Teams. These learning tools have proved ineffective for primary students as they need personalized attention and a healthy class environment to better understand things.

The educational structure of a country serves as a basis for its future economic and technological prosperity. The system needs to take measures in time to address these concerns to prevent further deterioration of our education.
