increase your house value

Adding value to your home can start with a lick of paint and a well-tended lawn. However, if you wish to increase your house value and add meaningful value to your home, you may want further options. Start by thinking about the space that you have available, both indoors and out. Unless your home requires repairs, there may not be much you can do without converting your rooms or adding to them.

Let’s look at some of the ways you can increase your house value.

Add Plantation Shutters to Your Home

Plantations shutters are stylish and sophisticated. They come in a choice of woods to match the look and feel of your home. Although the cost of plantation shutters is more than curtains or other plastic blinds, the pay off in terms of the resale value of your home is with the consideration (find plantation shutters here). They also add a layer of protection to your home, deterring anyone from entering your home through a window.

Convert Your Cellar Space

Your home may have hidden underground value. A converted cellar can add as much as 30% to the value of your home. That’s a large number, and certainly one of the easiest ways to increase your house value by converting a single room.

There are many ways that you could convert your cellar. One idea is to add an extra bedroom. Another option is to convert the space into a gym.

Whatever you choose, buyers will at least be able to see the potential of your cellar. They may wish to rip out your hard work and replace what they see with a wine cellar or sauna, for example. Seeing the room’s current use is more valuable to the buyer than seeing it in a state of disrepair – the amount of money, time, and effort needed to upgrade the space may be a deal-breaker, and wine cellar iron doors.

Add a Conservatory

Most of the time, when you ask people what matters to them when viewing homes, they will say storage. People own a lot of shoes, and they need places to put them. However, another feature of homes that attracts buyers is living space.

Consider the addition of a conservatory to increase the value of your home. This room acts as a second living room, ideal for light and airy relaxation. If your home currently has one living room, with limited seating in other areas such as the kitchen, a conservatory can bring in more buyers and boost the value of your home.

Loft Space Conversion

Loft space conversions can be tricky. Not only do you need to think about plumbing, electrics, and insulation, you need to add access. Either pull-down stairs or fixed stairs are the main two options. Ladders or slow-moving internal elevators may not be attractive features to buyers.

Bedrooms usually dominate loft space conversions. However, you could choose to set up a games room or any other hobby room. Your choice is not consequential. What is important is to show buyers that the space is fit for habitation.
