Declutter your wardrobe

First things first, you need to declutter your wardrobe. A full and disorganised wardrobe is not going to help you get out of your style rut. So get sorting through it. There is bound to be items in there that you have forgotten about or haven’t worn for a long time. If you haven’t worn it in the past year, it’s unlikely you will wear it again. Try everything on as you sort through. This may take some time if you’ve accumulated a lot of clothes over the years. But it will help you make a definitive decision as to whether to keep an item or donate it. Be ruthless and honest with yourself. Ask a trustworthy friend to help you sort through too. Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes can see potential that we might be blind to. They may be able to see a great new look or style that you had no considered before. You may have some clothing that doesn’t fit well or is the wrong colour for your complexion. Your friend should be able to give you an honest opinion but also trust your gut. If it doesn’t make you feel comfortable and fabulous, it’s probably best to get rid.

Mix it up

If you always wear jeans, why not try wearing skirts instead? Or if you wear flats every day, throw on a pair of heels every so often. Why not try out a bolder accessory to go with your favourite dress instead of sticking to simple jewellery.  Experimenting and trying new things is part of the fun and will rejuvenate your style no end. Other people will also begin to notice that you are not wearing your usual attire. Dramatic changes may take some getting used to so start off small to begin with.
