Traveling can be a great adventure, but it can also be an expensive affair. A lot of the time the biggest part of your outlay is the travel to and from the destination you choose, which can set your budget for the trip back by hundreds.

However, instead of travelling by planes, trains and automobiles… you can simply get into your car and jet off to a different state. You could rent a yacht charter Miami, go shopping in the big Apple, or hike around the Grand Canyon. This country is colossal and has loads to offer. So let’s get going!

U.S. 50

Perhaps the most classic route through the USA, this is a fun way to drive through the country and you can stop off at every city if you like.

U.S. 83

Rather than the traditional route of going east to west, why not switch it up and go from north to south? Known as the road to nowhere, 83 allows you to embrace the outdoors as you travel along the rolling hills and valleys, from Canada to Mexico.

Jefferson Highway

the Jefferson highway is also known as the pine to palm route, because at the start of the route you’ll be surrounded by pines, and by the end of the route you’ll be surrounded by palm trees. Make sure you pack for every weather condition if you’ll be stopping off along the way!

U.S. Route 6

if you don’t want to be switching from route to route, but you still want to see everything the USA has to offer- route 6 is the way to go. You’ll be able to travel from Provincetown to Inyo County and see everything in between. You’ll see urban streets, dry plains and stunning landscapes along the way.

Lincoln Highway

the Lincoln highway, of course, is the first highway to transverse along the country. It was built in 1913 and is definitely worth a drive. You’ll be able to drive for 3000 miles from Times Square to San Francisco.

The Tourist Spot Route

If you have a few weeks or months to spare, you can really make the most of your road trip across the states and visit as many tourist attractions as you can along the way. Take your time and take lots of photos!

California State Route 1 (Vancouver to San Diego)

If you fancy a trip between the USA and Canada, then you can take the California State Route and enjoy crossing over the border of the countries. Make sure you go at the right time, because this route can get BUSY. The Small Roads

If taking the highways just isn’t what you are looking for, you can always make up a route which doesn’t hit any of the main roads at all. It will take you much longer to get to where you want to go, but you will see some lovely sights along the way. Simply go onto your sat nav or google maps and select ‘avoid highways’. Simple. Enjoy the ride and take you time visiting all the little spots you would have missed otherwise.
