When you are experiencing symptoms of a psychiatric disorder, it can be challenging to know when they are severe enough to warrant seeking professional help. But even if you are unsure, seeking help from a psychiatrist is crucial as it helps rule out any doubt. The Just Psych, LLC team will examine you for any signs of a mental health problem before prescribing suitable treatment plans to help you regain control of your thinking, moods, and behavior.

There are several signs that you may need psychiatric services. If you are experiencing one or more of the following symptoms, you must seek out professional help as soon as possible:

Anxiety and panic attacks

You have panic attacks or unexplained physical symptoms such as sweating, muscle twitching, or shaking. You may be overwhelmed by feelings of worry, fear, and guilt. These feelings are usually short-lived and pass quickly in most cases. But if they occur frequently or last longer than a few weeks or months, it could indicate a more severe condition like bipolar disorder.

Depression

Depression is a common symptom of mental illness, especially when it comes to bipolar disorder or schizophrenia. The symptoms of depression include feeling sad for no reason, hopeless about any situation, and unable to do simple tasks. These feelings are often accompanied by a lack of motivation, poor concentration, and weight gain because of a lack of sleep (insomnia), irritability, anger, and anxiety. If these symptoms persist for more than two weeks, it could be a sign that something is wrong in your mind, such as bipolar disorder or schizophrenia.

Anxiety

Anxiety can also be a symptom of depression. You may feel stressed or worried about many things, such as finances or problems at home. Some people think about these things constantly and have difficulty concentrating on other things. Others have more specific worries that make them uncomfortable, such as worries about work or school, bodily functions (tingling hands or feet), or thinking about death or suicide.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)

Obsessive-compulsive disorder is when you concentrate on one thing repeatedly until it feels like your whole life revolves around it. You may wash your hands frequently and check that the stove’s burner is off before cooking dinner because you think something will go wrong if you don’t do this step first. Other people think about needing to do something repeatedly until finally making a decision or completing an action (such as checking doors three times before leaving the house).

You are not sleeping well

If your sleep is restless or filled with nightmares or bad dreams, this could mean something is wrong with your mind. But it could also mean that you have another medical condition like heart disease or diabetes that it’s affecting how well your body heals from sleep deprivation.

You may have the symptoms of depression, anxiety, or some other mental health problem. Or you may feel so bad that you can’t get out of bed or concentrate on everyday tasks. Talk to your primary care doctor or mental health professional if you need psychiatric services. They can help you decide whether treatment is appropriate for you and how much help you may need. Contact Just Psych, LLC, and book an appointment with a psychiatrist to learn more about mental disorders and treatment options.
