In honor of fall arriving, I wanted to make some kind of pumpkin project. I love the presence of them and their only around for such a short time since their a seasonal item. I have not done a craft using mod podge in awhile and knew this would be the perfect opportunity. Making fabric pumpkins. I found a tutorial and got excited. The pumpkins looked so elegant and knew I would have fun making this. So I found a pattern at Wal-Mart and bought 2 fabric squares for $0.97 each. I ended up needed one (and still had leftovers), so this project was under a dollar! The total time took about 45 minutes. Once I got the hang of it, then it took quicker to assemble. Definitely give enough time to let your pumpkin dry. Overnight would be the safe bet. The end result is priceless. I love how the fabric blends in and really brings life to the pumpkin. I am going to be making more of these for Thanksgiving.
My supplies: Mod Podge, a marker, pumpkin, fabric, scissors (not pictured) and a painters brush
I measured the length of the pumpkin with my fabric and marked where to cut with my marker
I then cut the fabric into strips, at 1 1/2-2 inch width
Make sure you shape your fabric into a “v” at each end. This definitely helps applying the fabric evenly with no overlapping
I then applied mod podge to the pumpkin
I placed the strip of fabric onto the pumpkin, stretching it to make sure there is no bulging of fabric
I kept applying the strips evenly around the pumpkin. Using a “busier” fabric pattern, makes it easier to apply so it does not matter if the strips exactly do not match up
Once the pumpkin was covered, I applied a top layer of mod podge to the pumpkin to seal the fabric in place

What You Need:
- Pumpkin
- Fabric
- Scissors
- Mod Podge
- Painters Brush
How To Make:
- Measure pumpkin from stem to underside. Transfer measurement to fabric and cut strips. Strip width will vary depending on the size of your pumpkin. Mine were about 1.5” wide. Also, fabric will form to the pumpkin better if it is cut narrower on top and bottom. See picture.
- Paint pumpkin with light layer of Mod Podge. Press on fabric strips, lining up the pattern, if necessary.
- Paint another coat of Mod Podge on top of fabric. Continue until entire pumpkin is covered in fabric.
- Fabric with small prints were easier to line up, if you want a less time consuming pumpkin
- Let dry (overnight would be best)
