Outdoor space is quite often the poor relation of the home, with far less money spent on renovating it, making it beautiful and adding value. However, if you are a homeowner, neglecting your garden is a mistake because buyers like to see an attractive and well maintained outdoor area, and when you think about it, the garden is the first thing they’ll see when they come to view your property, so it makes sense to have it looking good.

If your garden isn’t exactly great, here are some simple things you can do to grow its value and make it look amazing:

Clear the Clutter

The simplest thing and the first step you should take, to grow the value of your garden is to clear out the clutter,  by which I mean, mow the lawn, get rid of those old bikes, mowers, etc. you’ve been ‘storing’ there and keep the space clear. This alone will do so much to make your outdoor space look better.

Plant Some Flowers

Planting flowers is something anyone can do – you don’t need to be a gardening expert to sow a few seeds- and it can make a dramatic difference to the way your garden looks, adding bold, bright colors and pretty delicate blooms into the mix. If your garden has lots of healthy flowers, it will attract the right kind of attention.

Add A Deck

The great thing about decking is that, whether you have a big garden or a small yard, it will add value to your space by giving you an attractive place to sit. Unless you have good DIY skills, I would suggest that you use one of the many excellent handyman services available to install your decking for you. Good decking will add value and improve your garden, but poorly installed decking will do quite the opposite!

Do Something Different

Another great way to grow the value of your garden is by making it stand out from the rest of the gardens in your neighborhood, and not because it looks like a jungle! For example, creating a Zen garden or turning your backyard into a well-maintained wildflower meadow will make it stand out and hopefully intrigue potential buyers enough to take a look.

Make it Low-Maintenance

Although most people like a nice looking garden, they also don’t want to spend too much time keeping it that way, which is why you should probably think about creating a garden design that’s easy to manage. Using paving stones instead of lots of grass or replacing your real lawn with astroturf are good ways to do this, but simply planting low-maintenance flowers and shrubs is a good way to keep things simple too. Taking advice from a tree surgeon on how to maintain your tree’s in your garden is a must, with some great Ipswich tree surgeons out there you’re not short of any advice.

Add Seating

Adding seating that is ‘built-into the garden as an architectural feature is a great way to grow your garden’s value because it will into only make the garden a pleasant place to spend time, but any future buyers will know that they will not have to invest in seating options of their own!

Have fun improving your garden and growing its value!
