Cinnamon Rolls with Russian Salo Recipe

International Bacon Day 2018 is January 30th and what better way to celebrate a day dedicated to bacon than with Brown Sugar Bacon Cinnamon Rolls.  But I will teach you how to make them even more exclusive. We’ll use russian salo instead of common bacon! Yes, you read that right. Sweet salty brown sugar salo and gooey cinnamon rolls together at the same damn time. If you ask what the heck “salo” is supposed to be, I would definitely tell you that it’s exactly the same bacon but more nutritious and delicious.  Feel free to sit down if you aren’t, because I got a feeling this salo cinnamon rolls recipe may make you swoon.

This cinnamon roll recipe is perfect to celebrate International Bacon Day 2018, and it will be a great addition to your brunch and breakfast recipe collection.  These salo cinnamon rolls are so darn easy to make that even a child could do it. Well a child that can use a stove. I mean we don’t want to hurt any kiddos trying to make salty, sweet, gooey goodness. I made a batch of these cinnamon rolls last Christmas with leftover brown sugar salo I had from the Brown Sugar Salo Pecans I baked for the holidays. In case, if you don’t know where to find this particular kind of “russian bacon”, then try to find a Russian community grocery or use the russiantable internet store. Personally, i would recommend the “Solomka” salo but you can use any type of salo that you’ll find.

Being a member of the Bacon Mafia I knew there was no way in hell I was throwing away salo, and I didn’t want to serve it with the usual breakfast of eggs and biscuits. Nope, I wanted something decadent and different so I thought why not make salo cinnamon rolls.

Except, I’m not a baker.  So I had a bit of a quandary until I remembered that Pillsbury sells Cinnabon cinnamon rolls with icing in a can. Yep, these cinnamon rolls are not from scratch. Judgeth thee not.
