An A to Z of Baby Sussex

The world is waiting on the news that the new royal baby has arrived safely, but punters are still betting frantically on whether Baby Sussex will be a boy or a girl, and taking a stab at what they think he or she will be called. There’s so much we already know about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s first child, but here’s an A to Z guide of Baby Sussex.

A is for April

It is believed that Baby Sussex will be born in April, and although the Duke and Duchess announced the pregnancy back in October, Meghan let slip that she was six months pregnant in January.

Should the new royal baby be an April one, he or she will be in good company as Prince Louis’ birthday is April 23rd and Queen Elizabeth II’s is April 21st. Should Baby Sussex have a May birthday, cousin Princess Charlotte (born on May 2nd) will share her birth month with the new arrival.

D is for Diana

In Royal Baby betting odds on Betfair, Diana is still the clear favourite in terms of names, with many believing that Prince Harry will pay homage to his late mother in some form. Royal babies tend to have three or four names, so even if they don’t choose to have Diana as the baby’s first name, there are a number of middle names to choose from. Diana is also one of Princess Charlotte’s middle names.

F is for Frogmore Cottage

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently moved into Frogmore Cottage in the grounds of Windsor Castle, following a £3 million renovation. Ahead of the baby’s arrival, Meghan also flew her mother over to the UK and it is believed that she will have her own room in the couple’s cottage, as she will look after the baby in the lead up to them finding a suitable nanny for the new-born. (Alprazolam) The couple previously lived at Nottingham Cottage in Kensington Palace, but Frogmore is said to be their family forever-home.

I is for Instagram

The couple recently broke the internet when they set-up a joint Instagram account: @sussexroyal. Although the couple has said they’d like to keep the birth and news private, as they spend the first few days together as a family, the likelihood is that any news will be broken on their social channel. The account broke a Guinness World Record when it amassed over a million followers within a six-hour period and no doubt those followers will be refreshing their feeds to catch the latest news.

The couple opened their account with the following message: “Welcome to our official Instagram; we look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues. We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal.”- Harry & Meghan. However, the eagle-eyed among us will notice that a post on April 15th was signed off ‘on behalf of The Duke and Duchess (and Baby Sussex)’.

M is for Manny… and N is for Nanny

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are on the hunt for a nanny, but rumour has it, they are keen to explore the possibility of a manny – which would be a first for the royal family. Meghan also favours an American over a Brit. But the hopeful will be rewarded with an eye-watering salary of up to £70,000 per year!

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have a nanny looking after their three children and it’s generally a royal requirement that they are bilingual.

R is for Rules

There are so many rules and traditions in place, which are part of the royal baby protocol. Some examples include: the gender is never announced ahead of time; the babies are swaddled in special luxury knitted-lace shawls produced by G.H. Hurt & Son; the monarch must be notified of the birth first and then it is announced by Buckingham Palace; and the tower of London sets off a 62-gun salute (including a basic round of 21 and an additional 41 shots as the Tower is considered a Royal Palace and located within the city of London), with Green Park also firing off 41 more guns.

W is for Wellness

It’s no secret that the Duchess of Sussex is a fan of yoga, with reports suggesting that renovations to their home included the installation of a sprung floating floor. Meghan has kept up with her yoga regime during pregnancy. It is also believed that she favours a natural birth and has looked into hypnobirthing (as used by Kate Middleton), as well as enlisting the services of a doula.

The couple was also spotted at the Ilapothecary wellness centre in West London earlier this month. The boutique sells herbal products including serums, oils and body butter, some of which are said to aid recovery post-partum.
