Although they are not painful nor do they cause harm to your body, some people prefer to get it treated for cosmetic reasons. thread vein removal can be managed by a variety of different treatments, however, the most common option that is chosen by the majority of people is laser therapy because it is a non-invasive procedure. Let’s see about the Removal of thread vein- everything you need to know about the process.

The Process

  1. How to know if the procedure will work for you?

Laser treatment works differently on people with different skin tones. People with darker skin have an increased chance of developing side effects than people with lighter skin tone, so people with lighter skin tone are better suited to receive this treatment.

Having suntans, fake tans, acne, or active inflammation is also contraindicated if you wish to get this procedure done to prevent the onset of adverse reactions or worsening thread veins.

2. Consulting your doctor before the procedure

Before undergoing the treatment, you are required to consult with your doctor to know if you are eligible to get this procedure done. This includes getting a patch test done on a small area of your body to check whether extreme side effects occur or not. If you pass the patch test, you are required to sign a consent form.

3. What does the treatment do and what does it feel like?

Thread veins removal is a non-invasive procedure that is done using state-of-the-art IPL machines. These machines work by focusing filtered light of the laser on the damaged blood vessels. The heat from the laser dries up the blood from the vessels and they gradually become closed.

The treatment produces mild discomfort on the body. Some patients describe the procedure as similar to snapping an elastic or rubber band on your skin. This is why IPL machines are accompanied by skin-cooling machines that soothe any soreness or tenderness you might feel.

4. How does my skin feel after the treatment

Minor side effects are common after receiving the treatment. Thread veins may either immediately disappear from your skin or get lighter gradually. The affected skin may appear slightly inflamed for a few days but will return to normal soon.

5. Length of procedure

The length of the procedure depends on the amount and extent of thread veins on your skin. The average time of treatment is 15 minutes however it can take up to half an hour or more if the affected area is larger.

Normally a single session is not enough to heal the damaged blood vessels and a minimum of three to five treatments are required for the complete process to show positive results.
