Dust and grime seem to be in every room of your house. You aren’t sure how it got there, or how long it has been building up, but you do know that last time you did a deep dive into cleaning the tree out front was half the size it is now.

Where do you even begin deep cleaning?

This is different than the light sweep and a load of dishes you do each week for maintenance. That’s why we have laid out a deep cleaning checklist to help you reach the best success.

Scheduling

Hardly anyone has the time to block out a whole weekend to deep clean their home. Planning out weekends to tackle one room at a time may be your best friend when deep cleaning.

To avoid high levels of stress, try starting in the main parts of your home like the kitchen and living room and working your way through the house.

Deep Cleaning Checklist

This list will help you break up each room so that you don’t feel like you’re over-doing it. Take your time and really pay attention to the little tasks.

Kitchen:

  • Sort through all Tupperware and dishes
  • Clean counters, cabinet doors, and inside cabinets
  • Clean expired items out of pantry and fridge
  • Wipe down inside and outside of the fridge
  • Organize pantry items
  • Clean inside and behind the stove
  • Vacuum behind fridge

Feel free to empty out cupboards and vacuum out the shelves and drawers too!

Livingroom:

  • Dust fan and light fixtures
  • Dust any shelves or knick-knacks
  • Wipe down windows and window treatments
  • Vacuum out couch
  • Clean down any table surfaces
  • Vacuum floors
  • Organize loose items
  • Wash carpet

Be sure to give all of your baseboards a wipe and even through your curtains in the wash.

Bathrooms:

  • Clean showers, tubs, sinks, and toilets
  • Wipe down cabinet surfaces
  • Organize storage areas
  • Wash any curtains or bathmats
  • Dust Light fixtures

We all know that the bathroom can be pretty gross, so make sure you slap on some cleaning gloves and wipe the whole toilet down while you’re in there.

Bedrooms:

  • Dust any shelves or knick-knacks
  • Dust fan and light fixtures
  • Wipe down windows and window treatments
  • Strip bedsheets and pillowcases to be washed
  • Flip your mattress (or rotate it if it is a pillow top)
  • Vacuum the floors
  • Sort through clothing and put away keep items and separate give-away items

Really take your time to sort through your belongings when in this section of the deep cleaning checklist. This is your chance to start fresh.

Outdoors:

  • Spray down any surfaces like patios and furniture with the hose
  • Tidy your yard by trimming bushes and pulling weeds
  • Remove any bug nests or cobwebs

Now that the inside of your home is spotless, move to the outside. Doing some quick scrubbing of your porch will for sure entice you to have your morning coffee with a side of mother nature from now on.

How Often to Deep Clean

You should deep clean your home about every three to six months to get the full deep cleaning benefits out of it. This will keep your fridge and pantry cleaned out, and you won’t have to do a big task like washing your carpeted rooms more than once a year.

If you have allergies, try to take measures to limit your exposure to dust while cleaning for long periods, because it might cause some irritation.

A good way to keep your house at the optimal cleanliness level is to use recurring maid services. How to you chose cleaning services, you ask? Always check for companies with professional staff.

A professional cleaner will know exactly where to look for grime and they work quickly to get it up.

Keeping Your Home Shiny

Nothing feels better than relaxing in a clean home, especially since its easier than ever with this deep cleaning checklist!

Deep cleaning is essential at least twice a year for your health and sanity. It may seem like a challenge when you have a busy schedule, but that is why you take it one step at a time.
