Continue reading below for our list of amazing skin health tips you won’t want to miss. Here’s what you need to know!

  1. Stop Touching

The average person touches his or her face between 2 and 3 thousand times a day! Not only does this place us at high risk for contracting illnesses, but it’s not good for our skin either. Think about all of the things you touch throughout the day.

At first glance, you might not believe you touch too many things. When you take the time to sit down and really think about it, however, the reality of it becomes clear. You touch your car door handle, the steering wheel, your coffee that the Starbuck’s worker touched before you, bathroom door handles, telephones, and so much more.

Then, you’re touching your face with all of those same germs. Gross! This puts bacteria and oils on your skin, which can actually spread an acne breakout.

  1. Start From the Inside

Our skin is a reflection of what’s going on inside of our bodies. In most cases, if our skin is unhealthy, it’s an indication that our insides are unhealthy as well. Eating and drinking junk foods and drinks high in sugar can cause breakouts.

Start improving your skin by starting from the inside. Switch up your eating habits. Eat healthier by packing yummy but healthy snacks to munch on throughout the day.

Consider fruits, veggies, and non-sugary beverages. Once your insides are healthy, it’ll reflect in your skin’s health. Do keep in mind that this is something that takes time, and you won’t see results right away, but it’ll make a big impact once the results are visible.

  1. Wear Beneficial Makeup

Knowing when to wear makeup is essential for your skincare routine.

The best advice is to wear no makeup at all. For some, it’s a way of life, necessary for work, or a way to have better self-esteem. We understand why you may need to wear makeup, so if this is your situation, then be sure to wear the right kind.

There are many brands of makeup that can actually be beneficial for your skin. Find makeup options that are packed with antioxidants and other goodies that your skin will love. You might be surprised by how many options you have.

  1. Exfoliate and Get Sleep

As your skin sheds throughout the day, these dead skin cells can pile up on your face and clog your pores. When this happens, an infection can occur and cause acne. The winter months can also leave our skin dried out and dull.

To avoid this, be sure to exfoliate and get a good night’s sleep each night. Find a gentle exfoliator and exfoliate your skin about 2-3 times a week. This will help keep your skin fresh and bright.

Your skin also heals while you sleep, so be sure to get your 8 hours of rest each night. Wash all pillowcases and sheets once a week as well, as they harvest dead skin cells and sweat.

  1. Use Natural Products

Using natural products on your face is another great decision. Natural products tend to work amazingly with our skin because our bodies react to them well. Choose products that offer almost all or only natural ingredients.

Take this into consideration when purchasing all types of skin products including exfoliators, hydration creams, cleansers, and more. For example, a kale cleanser is a great way to clean your skin without exposing your skin to harsh chemicals or ingredients.

Take the time to read the ingredient list of every product you buy before you buy it.

  1. Stay Hydrated and Protected

Healthy skin is skin that’s hydrated and protected. There are creams that you can buy to help keep your skin hydrated, but the easiest way to ensure this is to drink a sufficient amount of water each day. The more water you drink throughout the day, the more hydrated you’ll be, which means a happy body and happy skin.

This is how hydration helps skincare!

You’ll also want to keep your skin protected from the sun. If you do wear makeup, look into purchasing makeup that contains some level of SPF in it. This way, when you wear it, you’re also protecting your face.

If you’re not a makeup user, then be sure to use sunscreen on your face each day that you plan to spend time outdoors.
