Productive Resolutions for 2020

It’s 2020, and many of us are thinking about what we want to do for our resolutions, especially in our professional lives. When you’re an entrepreneur or someone who wants to earn more money, being productive can help. Or, you may just want to be more productive with your hobbies and whatnot.

Here are some ways you can be productive in 2020.

Weaning Yourself Off Online Distractions

Distractions are the worst way to lose productivity. You tell yourself, “Oh, let me just check my emails or Facebook for a few minutes,” and soon, 30 minutes have passed. You’ve done nothing productive, and you feel shame.

That’s why it’s important to stop it. However, pulling the plug entirely doesn’t seem to work. Install all the blocking apps you can, you’re going to end up using a different device or uninstalling everything altogether to get your Facebook fix.

Cutting things out altogether rarely works. You need to do it slowly. Calculate how much time you spend on distracting websites. You may use a time tracking app to help you. Then, reduce the amount of time on average. In many ways, those websites are like a drug, and going cold turkey is going to make that itch worse.

Doing the Side Hustle

It’s easy to make money online if you have a talent and a niche audience. Whether you sell items locally, create art, or do some freelance writing jobs on a side, a side hustle can help. A side hustle can be a great way to make some extra income, and if you’re someone who gets your name out and has a natural talent, a side hustle can be an awesome way for you to make money full-time.

Stay Healthy

Balancing health and professionalism is quite important. If you’re someone who is all about the no-sleep life, that’s not how you are productive. Sleep deprivation can kill your focus, make it harder for you to keep a stable mood, and long-term sleep deprivation can cause health problems down the road. Stop checking your emails before bed and get some sleep. In addition, healthy dieting and exercise can keep your productive juices up. Being more productive should never come at a health cost, and following the safety rules of business can keep you going for a long time.

Goal Setting

We can’t stress enough the importance of setting goals. Many of us have a loose idea of what we want to do, but we end up not writing it down or having a plan to reach the goal. Having realistic goals and keeping track of them is how you end up being more productive in 2020. Don’t think that you can remember all your goals in your mind, even if you claim to have a good memory. It’s better to write everything down and organize them.

Moving to a Remote Location

Many businesses are ditching the office cubicle in favor of working from home. If your workplace has that option, give it a try. Working from home can make you more productive, as long as you’re free from distractions. There’s just something about being in your house, with a  cat on your lap or while you’re sipping a drink, to make you feel more productive and produce better results.

Holding Yourself Accountable

2020 is the year where you hold yourself accountable for your productivity promises. When the year is over, you need to either celebrate your accomplishments, or wonder what went wrong and how you can do better for 2021.

Holding yourself accountable needs that right balance. You should not be too hard on yourself, and you should also celebrate the positive accomplishments. However, you should not be too lax on yourself. Having a business partner or family member can help you with this.

If you don’t have anyone, you should

Seek Help

You may want to seek the help of a counselor or a therapist. Therapy, be it online or offline, can help hold yourself accountable, learn your shortcomings, and assist you with coming up with a plan. Therapy and counseling is not just for those people who are on edge; there are many reasons to go to therapy, and some of them include business and career advice.

In addition, if you ever thought about seeking a career in therapy, online therapy is a good market. It’s growing, and it will only continue to grow. If you have the credentials, it can be a lucrative job. Click here for more information:
