Many people choose to decorate their home in a style that reflects their own personality.Whether this is through minimalist design, bold prints or even floral decorations, it doesn’t matter.Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. One underestimated way to put a personal stamp on a home’s interior is through paint. This relatively cheap design medium can be utilised in a number of different ways and the results can be quite striking.

Australia has been the home of unique design for a number of years with people taking inspiration from the culture of the indigenous people and the world of surfing to produce original interiors that are individual in every way. For example, expert painters in Surfers Paradise complete a dazzling area of unique paint jobs every month and complete each project to a much higher standard than people using the DIY approach. It may cost a bit more than doing it yourself but after seeing the end result, you will probably agree that it’s a worthwhile investment.

When most people think of paint in regard to interior design, they think about the walls. Although this is a good place to start, there are a number of other things that can be transformed with the paint of your choice. Please see below for a few examples of how paint can be used in interior design. This list by no means covers all the possibilities, the only barrier is your imagination!

  • Walls – As mentioned above, the walls are a great place to start. You don’t have to settle for the same colour for all four walls either. If you fancy a red wall, a green wall, a blue wall and a white wall, go ahead and do it. You could even coordinate your soft furnishings with the walls to create an eclectic living space.
  • Ceilings – You don’t need to stop at the walls! Adding a splash of colour to ceilings is an idea that is growing in popularity for many homeowners with a favourite combination being neutral wall colours and a bright ceiling. How’s that for a contrast?
  • Furniture – You can bring a new lease of life to old and tired furniture with a lick of paint. Coffee tables, kitchen chairs and even your old sideboard can all be painted for a fraction of the price it would cost to replace them.
  • Kitchen Cabinets – Due to the amount of activity that takes place in the kitchen, cabinets can look old and worn within a relatively short space of time but there’s no need to discard them.Simply rub them down, repaint and put them back. Hey presto!New kitchen cabinets that add a welcome splash of colour and look brand new.

Although it is possible to carry out the aforementioned projects yourself, it will take time and probably won’t look as good as a job carried out by painting professionals. It’s your home, you will live in it, so invest in it!
