Set Up Your Watering Schedule

And just as our digestive system works on a schedule, plants have a digestive schedule too. Therefore, treat your plants well by watering them on a set timetable, so their plant bodies know when to expect water.
Clean The Outdoor Grill
Lots of people think that leaving crispy bits from past food adds flavor to future food. While that may be the case, it’s best to clean your grill at least once a year so as to not attract vermin or bacterial overgrowth. Once this is done, oil the grates: this will prevent food from sticking the next time you cook, making the process easier next time you come to clean.
Give Your Porch Some TLC
Go beyond the casual sweep with a broom. Get a mop and clean away all the bird poop or odd stains from last year’s barbecues and social gatherings. If you’re feeling particularly ambitious, get a power washer to scrub away all the grime accumulated on your porch.
Wash The Windows
You might have been enjoying a bug-free winter, but spring — and certainly summer — will bring insects crawling back. Start by getting the gutters cleared to minimize residue falling onto the glass later. This will prevent water damage throughout the year. Then wash the window to remove any bug residue, miscellaneous dirt, and anything else messing up the glass. Dry them thoroughly afterward to prevent water stains.
Clean Your Ceiling Fans
You can only see the bottom of your fans most days, but the tops usually accumulate a lot of dust — especially if you don’t use the fan often. Take a vacuum with a dust attachment, or simply use a damp cloth to wipe away accumulated piles of dust. You don’t want dust clumps to rain down the next time you turn on the fan during heat waves.
Check Your Smoke Detectors
Make sure all the batteries are active, and that your system is ready to go should an emergency arise. Summer dry spells provide the perfect conditions for fires, and you never know when a stray firework could land improperly or an electrical fan could malfunction.
