Tips for a Perfect Summer Garden Party

When summer rolls around, we all want to spend more and more time outdoors, which makes throwing garden parties just the perfect idea. You probably have your garden all nice and ready, with false grass and beautiful flowers all around. The question still remains: how can you make sure that your party is going to be as beautiful as the garden? Let’s find out.

Make it Comfortable

One of the most important aspects of any party is ensuring that the guests are all as comfortable as possible. For instance, if the party is going to take place during the day, have some sunscreen ready, as well as plenty of shaded areas. If you’re planning it in the evening, then have some citronella candles, as well as bug sprays. If the weather is quite hot, consider having a few umbrellas ready, as well as handheld fans. If the opposite is true, and the weather is quite cool, a few heating lamps and shawls may just save the day. After all, the more relaxed and comfortable your guests are, the more likely it is that they’ll actually have fun, which is the whole point of the party.

Focus on the Food

As far as decorations go, if you manage to lay the food out beautifully, you’re very unlikely to actually need anything else. After all, the whole party is set in the garden, which is filled with flowers and gorgeous greenery, both of which act as the best kind of decorations.

As for the food, you can play around with different colors and patterns. You can place it all on a simple, white tablecloth, or a color that blends in nicely with the background of your garden.

Of course, you can always add even more flowers, but you should make sure that these flowers are strong enough to withstand the wind and the sun. You can add clear marbles to the vases, to make sure that the wind doesn’t blow them away. Alternatively, if you’re looking for a more natural look, you can go with pebbles.

Leave the Seating Open

You don’t have to, of course, but it’s a great idea to set up areas for cocktails, games, and eating so that guests don’t have to sit in one specific place the entire party. This way, they’ll be able to chat with one another, and even engage in different activities, that are a great deal more likely to make everything all the more fun. This works best for parties that are not too formal.

In fact, if your party takes place on a lawn, you can also lay down some blankets and pillows. If this isn’t the case, then you can create the eating area by placing folding tables and chairs, so that guests will have somewhere to set their food.

Use the Season as Inspiration

When it comes to the particular food that’s served, your best bet would be to use the season as a means of getting inspiration. You can start things off with a drink made with seasonal fruits, or a delicious lemonade. When getting the ingredients, try your best to purchase local foods, since not only will those taste more delicious, but they will also make your party more environmentally-friendly.

Be Mindful of Your Surroundings

As it is the case with any party out there, music is an absolute must. However, you should be sure to get informed about the local sound ordinances, so that you’ll know what volume you can have it on, and how late into the night you can keep playing it.

The clean-up portion of the party should also not be left right until the end. If you’re at home, make sure that you’ve provided lots and lots of garbage cans. In addition, it’s best if you can clear things as you go. If, on the other hand, your party takes place at a park, have lots and lots of garbage bags, and consider asking someone to help out.

Be Practical

While garden parties can be absolutely beautiful, they do depend on something that’s not entirely stable: the weather. As such, while ideally, you should be enjoying a gorgeous, blue sky, you should also keep in mind that it might rain. As such, consider getting plenty umbrellas ready, or, best case scenario, have an alternate indoor location prepared. For instance, if your party is taking place in your own garden, you can move it all inside the house if the weather turns sour.

Garden parties can be a blast, especially if you know how to take advantage of all wonderful features summer has to offer. Be sure to concentrate your efforts on the comfort of your guests, and you’ll be sure to throw an excellent party.
