The Difference Between PVC, Polyethylene, And Polyolefin (POF) Shrink Film

Three kind of shrink wrap films are mainly used and they are- PVC, PE, and POF shrink film. To know which one is suitable for your purpose, you have to know their differences first.

The main advantages of PVC are- this material is highly durable, consist of easy shrinking and sealing features and it can be used even on the products which are heat sensitive. In a wide range of industries this material used such as- food industry, construction industry, chemical and pharmaceutical industry, healthcare department and many more. PVC can have direct contact with food and it can also substitute the BOPP overwrap film.

  • Polyolefin (POF) Shrink Film:- Polyolefin shrink film or POF is considered as one of the most versatile and durable materials. The polyolefin materials come in with various different features and characteristics. One of these available characteristics is the feature of cross-link because of which it can provide high tensile strength. The measurement of the force which is required for breaking the wrap is known as tensile strength.

Another big advantage of POF is it is transparent. So it becomes easy to see the enclosed item that is wrapped. The associated costs of packaging like the maintenance cost and repair cost can be eliminated with POF as this wrap’s compounds decrease the chances of building up of the material of the sealing component of the entire machinery.

POF is also resistant to the tears and punctures and this material has amazing strength. This is not only advantageous throughout the delivery and supply chain but it makes easier to wrap the irregularly shaped products as well. This item is non-expensive too.

  • Polyethylene (PE) Shrink Film:-This is a type of polyofin that means it is a single monomer, formed during the polymerisation with the addition of ethylene. The most common use of this material can be seen during transit. Materials can be individually wrapped or they can be wrapped together- this depends on the nature of the product and the mode of transport being used.

In comparison with the other methods of packaging, these versatile products provide the best combination of protection and per unit cost. This material does not shrink under heat like the other materials; this makes it ideal for transportation. PE is resistant to the punctures and it is extremely durable as well.
