Rice Krispie Wreath’s

Oh the weather outside is frightful! Who else is hibernating this week due to below freezing temperatures? I sure am! Since it still looks like Christmas outside, I figured I might as well keep my Holiday posts going of treats I made for Christmas. This is a new recipe I have never made, thought I would try it out, and am glad I did.

Rice Krispie Wreath’s were a hit at my family gatherings and so unbelievably easy to make. I used the Rice Krispie treat original recipe and added green food coloring, while stirring all the ingredients together. I then formed the mixture into wreath shapes (donuts) and decorated with icing, M&M’s, and red hot candies.

They taste delicious and are the perfect treat to give away in treat bags, have a baking day with the kids or something easy to make if you are in a time crunch!

Ingredients: Rice Krispies Cereal, Mini Marshmallows, Margarine, Green Food Coloring and your choice of decorations. (Red hot candies, Red & Green M&M’s, Red Icing)

In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.

Add cereal and green food coloring, enough to your desired color.

Stir until well coated.

Using the mixture, form into wreaths on a baking sheet, lined with wax paper.

Tip: Coat your hands with cooking spray, to deal with the sticky mixture.

Immediately decorate the wreaths, while still soft.

I enjoyed making bows with red icing and pressed red hot candies into the wreaths. I also used red and green M&M’s.

Leave out for decorations to dry, and then store in a air tight container.

Enjoy!
