Focusing On What’s Outside Rather Than Within…

We’re constantly being told over and over again to only concentrate on what’s within. Everybody’s perception of beauty is different, lies with the eye of the beholder, is subjective and can only be found inside ourselves. That’s all well and good, but how do you apply this logic to a house? Well, you can’t. There’s no use doing up the inside to look amazing in your home if the outside looks awful. There are ways and means to get most of the curb appeal done on a budget, but you need to know what you’re looking for.

Look Up

Although you may not see it when standing directly underneath, your roof can say a lot about your house. We don’t tend to look at our roof unless something bad has happened to it – say a tile falling off or a crack appearing. Not only does a bad roof look … well, a bit untidy, it’s also not a good indicator for what’s happening underneath. Getting your roof looked at by a professional company such as Triumph Roofing can be the difference between the items in your attic getting leaked on and ruined or being kept safe to pass on to future generations.

Look Down

Path got a crack in it? Grass sprouting up between block paving? Pebbled drive looking a bit bare? These are all unfortunately things that require constant upkeep, no matter how much you originally spent to get them done. Fortunately, as long as you keep on top of them and get into the routine of just going over the basics of what needs doing, it’ll always look pristine.

Look Straight

As you’re walking up to your house, check your door. Does it look clean, neat – does it look like new? If not, do something about it. Either repaint it or wipe it down. Then look around the door. Does it look fresh, does it look clear? If not, it’s time to get the duster out and clear away the cobwebs. Start with your front door and your way further along from there, eventually reaching your window panes. Then give these a thorough wipe down – you’ll be surprised at just how much dust and grime gathers around them. We’re always so intent on cleaning the windows themselves that the panes often get neglected.

Look Around

Take in what needs doing with other bits and bobs around the outside of your house. It could be something that’s it’s desperately in need of, like bricks needing repointing or foundations needing to be relaid. On the other hand, it could be that the surrounding fencing needs a few panels or slats replacing. This isn’t all to be done in one day ,and there is no way that it could be; spread out the work across a few months so you don’t become completely put off by it all and take it step by step. If people are offering you help – take it!
