I have some pumpkins left from my Halloween decorations and wanted to make a use of them. The pumpkins will not last much longer, so for this, I wanted to use supplies I already had. I came across a project on Good Housekeeping. It looked easy enough and I already had the supplies. So to work I went! The total process took about 30-40 minutes and I was done. The most time consuming part were the cutting of the tissue leaves. Tissue paper is a lot more tricky to cut than construction paper. I love how the red and yellow turned out against the white pumpkin. I want to try other tissue paper colors when I have more time. You can really have fun with this. I also thought, kids can contribute and make their own. And making different shapes would be fun…like a polka dot pumpkin. Even using multiple sizes of pumpkins to make a centerpiece for Thanksgiving. So let your imagination soar with this fun pumpkin craft!
The supplies: pumpkin, scissors, tissue paper, marker, leaves, mod podge and a paint brush
I traced the different leaves I wanted to use onto different colors of tissue paper
My leaf stencil
I then cut out each tissue leaf using scissors
My collection of different tissue paper leaves
I then Mod Poged the areas where I would be applying the tissue leaves
Stick the leaves on the pumpkin
I then applied a top coat of Mod Podge over all of the tissue leaves and let dry
My pumpkin drying with the top coat of Mod Podge
Here it is all dry and ready to be displayed
I love how vibrant the colors turned out against the white pumpkin
Showing the different sides of patterns of the tissue leaves
Imagine all the color combinations you could make with different colored tissue
