easy halloween mummy hot dogs

This has got to be the easiest, quickest and most fun Halloween treat to make! How have I not heard of mummy dogs until this year? I made these for my sister and brother when they came over. They loved them and how they actually look like mummy’s. I found the recipe on Pillsbury’s website and I will definitely be making these from now on every year for Halloween!

The hot dogs, we ended up making 8 mummy dogs and boiled the others, so people had choices

I bought the crescent packaged dough

I split the dough at the seams so there are 4 sections of horizontal rectangles

I used my pizza slicer and made 10 strips of dough that were about 1/2 inch in length

I took 2 slices of cheese and split one slice into 4 equal pieces, so I had 8 total slices

I put the cheese on the bottom of the hot dog. Using 4 dough strips for each hot dog, I wrapped the strips around, making it look like a mummy.

I left a opening for the eyes. This is what they looked like before they went in the oven

What You Need:

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
  • 2 1/2  slices American cheese, quartered (2.5 oz)
  • 8 large hot dogs (Or however many you want to make)
  • Cooking spray
  • Mustard or ketchup, if desired
  • Pizza cutter
How To Make:
  1. Heat oven to 375°F.
  2. Unroll dough; separate at perforations, creating 4 rectangles. Press perforations to seal.
  3. With pizza cutter, cut each rectangle lengthwise into 10 pieces, making a total of 40 pieces of dough. Slice cheese slices into quarters (1/2 slice cheese, cut in half).
  4. Wrap 4 pieces of dough around each hot dog and 1/4 slice of cheese to look like “bandages,” stretching dough slightly to completely cover hot dog. About 1/2 inch from one end of each hot dog, separate “bandages” so hot dog shows through for “face.”
  5. On un-greased large cookie sheet, place wrapped hot dogs (cheese side down); spray dough lightly with cooking spray.
  6. Bake 13 to 17 minutes or until dough is light golden brown and hot dogs are hot.
  7. With mustard, draw features on “face.”
