Is It More Than One Bad Day?

We all have our bad days. We all have times when we wake up in the morning, and there just seems be no point in waking up for the new day. Or perhaps, we look in the mirror and think that no one could possibly ever love the person staring back. You probably think you’re alone, or there’s something wrong with you if you’ve ever felt this way, but you’re not, and there isn’t. It happens to all of us. Unfortunately, it’s just not something that most people are willing to admit. As such, it feels a lot less common than it actually is.

The good news is that since it’s common, it’s nothing to worry about. You only need to be concerned if those bad days become something else entirely. Here are some signs that you might need a little extra support and what you should do to get it.

Longer Than A Day

If you are feeling miserable for more than a day or even a week, this could be a sign that you are suffering from something called bipolar disorder. You can read more about this on a site such as http://www.bipolar-lives.com/bipolar-depression-symptoms.html. There, you’ll discover some of the other signs of this condition and what it could mean. A particularly worrying sign would be if you feel sad for no reason at all. Again, this can be normal but when it’s a deep sadness that can’t be remedied that could be a sign of something more serious going on.

No Energy

People with mental health problems often have zero energy all day every day. It doesn’t matter how much sleep you get. The next morning you feel exhausted all the same, and things like caffeine probably won’t help at all. This is probably due to a chemical imbalance in your brain and the only real way to fix it is going to be with medication.

Darker Thoughts

If you experience suicidal thoughts due to your depressive state, you should seek medical help immediately. Again, suicidal thoughts are more common than most people realise and it doesn’t mean that you actually want to kill yourself. It could be directly due to your mood. When we feel low, we often wonder whether there is a point to life. But questioning the point of life is not the same as wishing we weren’t alive. Some people also are haunted by ideas of not wanting to exist and again, this isn’t quite the same as being suicidal. You can read about this on https://themighty.com/2016/07/suicidal-thoughts-but-not-suicidal/.  These individuals often understand that death is not an option because it would hurt anyone they left behind. Speaking to a therapist can help resolves issues like this and is definitely the best option.

Tell Someone

One of the worst things you can do when you’re feeling sad for any reason is to not tell anyone. Don’t keep it bottled up inside you because ultimately that could lead to a dangerous situation. If you don’t feel there’s anyone you know who you can talk to, that’s when you should consider speaking to a professional.

Therapy is important, and by talking to someone, you can immediately get a hold of the situation.
