Cut These Foods Out For Optimal Health

A healthy, balanced diet is the best way to feel and look great. However, many people don’t realize that they aren’t eating in particularly healthy or balanced way. Many people are consuming foods they believe to be healthy in abundance, failing to realize that they are doing more harm than good.

While a little bit of what you fancy once in a while is OK, you should cut out the following foods the majority of the time for optimal health:

Soda

Drinking soda, whether in diet or regular form, is not recommended. There are so many ingredients in a can, that you must realize it cannot be healthy. While they taste good to some, they are also full of sugar and pointless calories that do nothing for you. They can also have long-term ill effects on your weight and health, even the diet kind!

Instead of drinking soda, why not drink water infused with fruit?

Processed Meat

Processed meat like bacon, hot dogs, and sausages have been closely linked to colon cancer. In fact, some studies have found that they are as bad as smoking for the body. If you’re going to eat meat, you should ensure that it’s the lean, organic kind.

Fat-Free Products

Many people are fooled into believing that fat-free products are healthy, when they’re not. Fat-free basically means that a whirlwind of chemicals have gone into making the product to make it that way. Not naturally fat free foods of course, but ones that have been made in a lab. Fat-free does not mean healthy, nor does it mean calorie free!

Fast Food

Fast food is fast for a reason. It’s usually processed, deep fried, and absolutely no good for the body. Natural foods that are good to the body deteriorate pretty quickly, like fresh fruit and veg. But what about those fast good experiments that show a Burger King looking exactly the same for years? This should be a huge warning sign. Poisonous ingredients can often be found in fast food too. Look at the dimethylpolysiloxane dangers if you don’t believe it. You could be poisoning your body by eating this stuff!

Fruit Juice

While fruit juice can contribute to your five a day, it’s so easy to have multiple glasses and drink the whole carton. Just because it can be healthy in small amounts does not mean you should drink the whole thing. It’s still full of sugar and calories, and can still make you pile on unhealthy amounts of weight if you go OTT. If you must have fruit juice, make sure it’s as natural as possible (make your own?) and only have a small 250ml glass per day.

Alcohol

One glass of red with dinner is fine. It can even have positive health benefits. But can you stop at one? If not, it’s best to stop the drink altogether. Alcohol is empty calories for the body, and has so many adverse health effects. You’ll be better off without it!
