Start Being Kinder to Yourself, Today!

In today’s fast paced world, it can be easy to forget about number one. We are so busy rushing around and looking after the children that we forget to take good care of ourselves. Does this sound familiar? If so, you need to start being kinder to yourself, starting today! Read on to discover some of the different ways you can do so…

Show yourself compassion – As humans, we tend to be harsh on ourselves. We don’t give ourselves much compassion. You need to start thinking about what you would say to someone else in your shoes. How would you treat them and reassure them? Now, give yourself this treatment.

Take a laugh break – Make sure that you take five to ten minutes per day to do something that makes you laugh. This could mean reading a funny book, watching a comedy show on television, or looking at something on your smartphone. Laughter is great for your health; it recharges your batteries, boosts your optimism and makes you feel energised.

Make your home a pamper haven – Your home should be a peaceful sanctuary. When you get in from work, you need a place where you can relax and unwind. If your house doesn’t offer this, it is time to make some changes. The ultimate change would be to invest in a spa enclosure. That way, you can relax whenever you have had a hard day in the office. If you cannot afford such an investment right now, start with smaller changes, for example, get yourself a photo lap tray or bath tray and some scented candles and enjoy a glass of wine in the bath on an evening.

Do something positive whenever you have had a mediocre day – If you have had a mediocre day, do something positive that will make you feel better and breathe some hope into the day. This could be trying a new hobby, looking into ways to grow your career, having coffee with a friend, or researching a trip you want to talk.

Invest in yourself – Last but not least, it is so important to take the time to invest in yourself. Every day, spend at least 15 minutes doing something for you. This can be anything that makes you feel better, gives you happiness and enriches your life. From watching something uplifting to reading a book, there are no rules, so long as it is something purely for you.

As you can see, there are a number of different ways you can start being kinder to yourself. Follow the steps that have been presented above, and you will notice a difference to the way you feel! It only takes a few small changes to make a massive difference.
