Sometimes it can be easy to stay indoors and not get enough fresh air as we should. But there are lots of good ways to get outside even if it’s just in our own garden for a dose vitamin D and to clear our head. Read on to find out what they are, and for some help in taking your life alfresco.
Take your exercise outside
One really good way of getting some more time outside is to take your exercise routine outdoors. This is particularly easy if you do a thing like running or yoga which can be practiced outside without the neighbors thinking that you have gone crazy!
However, if you work mainly on the machines at the gym or do dancing, you may have to rethink your routine a bit. For example, gym work could be turned into things like working in the monkey bars at your local park. Or you could even take up Parkour to get similar muscle training and aerobic results.
Then there’s dancing. Usually, if you dance around in you room own, when nobody’s watching you can work up quite a sweat. But doing in this in your garden may raise a few eyebrows!
To stop the neighbors talking, why not take an outdoor class? Or swap it for something like Tai Chi which is often practiced out in the open?
Another easy way of living a more alfresco life is to take your relaxing activities outdoors. This Might be sitting with a glass of wine and a good book in the evening sun. Or entertaining family and friends with a BBQ and outdoor games.
Whichever activity you pick it’s a good idea to create a space outdoors that makes relaxing possible. For this, you may choose to install a deck with supplies from shops like Wilson Timbers, or a patio, or even plumb in a hot tub.
Also, ensure that there are a lot of comfortable places to sit as well, and you will be much more likely to take yourself outdoors when you are looking to relax.
The kids can be messy outside
An often forgotten advantage of being outdoors more, is that you have to worry less about the mess that the kids are making. They can play with paints, sand, or water, and getting on the floor really doesn’t matter all that much if they are in the garden.
That means taking the kids to play outside as much as possible is a great way to build more outdoor time into your lives. Although, you do need to make sure that you are providing a shaded space as well as suncream for them. As we all know the risk of too much sun exposure.
Gardening is good for you
Lastly, another great way of getting outside is to set yourself some green fingered challenges. It may be that you’d like to grow more veg for your family to eat? Or that you would like to tidy up your garden a bit, so its looks are more pleasing?
The most important thing is to pick a gardening goal that is meaningful to you. Then you will find it easier to motivate yourself to spend more time out of doors.
