Creating a Luxurious Bathroom

The bathroom, like the kitchen, is one of the most used rooms in the home. Yet it often gets a little neglected. It can be seen as more of a necessity than a luxury addition to the home. While it is vital to have one in the home, it is also important to take care of the one that you have. Bathroom suites and plumbing can be pretty pricey. So you don’t want to have to pay out for more in only a couple of years time.

If you are going to be redesigning your bathroom, though, you might want to add some luxury touches to it. If you get to have a spa-like bathroom in your own home, then it makes it easier to maintain and look after. Plus, you’ll enjoy your time in there more and not just see it as an in-and-out necessity. What are some of the best ways to add touches of luxury to your bathroom, though?

One of the first things you need to think about it the plumbing of it all. You’ll have existing plumbing in place, but you need to speak to someone from expert plumbing services to know what is and isn’t possible with the bathroom. You might want to move the placement of your toilet or sink, but in reality, it might not be possible (or could be quite expensive to do so). So check out with a professional what is best and what is possible.

In an ideal situation, you would have the sink placed fairly close to the entrance of the bathroom and accessible from any connecting closets or dressing space. The sink is something that you can quickly grab to wash hands or get a glass of water. So the more accessible it is, the better. For things like bathtubs, then ideally, they should be placed as much as a feature as possible. So it should be a focal point when you walk into the room (it doesn’t have to be a freestanding bath for that to be possible). The same goes for a shower if you only have a shower, more likely in an en suite. Keep it as a focus point. Try to get a large shower cubicle or wet room style shower for a real luxurious feature. Toilets are obviously a necessity in a bathroom. But it can be best if they are out of sight lines. Just so when someone walks into the bathroom, the toilet bowl isn’t the main focus. The main focus should be on the shower or bath.

A bathroom wouldn’t be complete without some kind of storage or linen closet. You don’t want all of your towels, bathroom products, or linen out on display. If you’re designing a bathroom from scratch, then some built in storage is a great idea, as it won’t take space out of the room. If not, make sure you choose some freestanding storage that can enclose all that you need it to. Try to keep it away from the wettest area of the room.

So there you have it, a quick guide to creating a luxurious bathroom space!
