When The Usual Spring Clean Just Isn’t Enough!

Spring cleaning – you either love it, or you hate it. And although we’ve still got a bit of winter left, your mind may be turning to it right now. The truth is, a “spring clean” is something of a misnomer anyway. More than once a year your house will need a clearout, an all-round clean and declutter.

Basic maintenance cleaning, after all, only goes so far. As long as you do your chores, the all-round house clean needn’t be too often nor too heavy. But as you go round looking at what needs done, some bigger issues might come to light. Whether it be due to an accident or slippage in your usual routine, sometimes you need to call on the big guns.

For Example?

So let’s say for example that you don’t like to clean your shower drain. Let’s face it, nobody does. You can be the cleanest person on the planet, smell like a summer meadow and almost never sweat. But that’s not going to stop your shower drain from :

a) clogging occasionally
and b) stinking to high heaven when it does.

Why? Because when you shower, skin and hair come off your head and body and are washed down the drain. Not all of it gets as far as the sewer. Stagnant water is an ideal breeding ground for bacteria. So that little mix in the shower drain is going to smell pretty ripe.

Every once in a while, if you haven’t cleaned it out yourself recently, this can lead to a flooded drain. You may need to call in a plumber to snake this and get it flowing smoothly again. You’ll be so glad you did.

What Else?

Let’s say you’ve recently relaxed the “no pets in the lounge” rule that you’d previously been sticking to religiously. Maybe it doesn’t matter that much – you’ve got a top of the range HEPA vacuum cleaner after all. The floors and the furniture get a regular run over with that, so you let it go?

But if you want that carpet to look as good as new – and with sunny days just around the corner, of course we all do – then you might need more. Calling specialists like Arevalo Bros Chem-Dry to come out and give the carpets an in-depth clean will restore that perfect look.

Is That All?

No!

A spring clean is not complete if you just go around the interior of the house putting right what’s wrong in there. After all, people don’t seem to realize how dirty a season winter can be. Rainwater isn’t, typically, pure and fresh. When it lands, it runs along the ground and picks up whatever is lying there, too.

This can lead to some serious issues with pooling and staining on the exterior of your house. If you have siding or decking out there, it can leave them looking aged and even battered. It may be worth calling on the specialists to bring it back to life and give it a new coat of paint. After all, garden party season is just around the corner!
