Earlier this week, I showed you some simple and easy kitchen upgrades. Today, I’m turning my attention to the bathroom. If only we all had access to a luxury spa bathroom, right? Well, I think you can get pretty close with a few little tricks and upgrades. In this post, I’ll take you through some low-cost ideas one by one. We don’t need to install a whole new bathroom suite to get some luxury. In fact, most of the ideas on this list won’t cost you a fortune at all.

  1. Large mirrors

It’s one of the most common bathroom trends of the last twelve months, and I love it. Choosing a large vanity mirror can make your small bathroom feel much, much bigger. Mirrors work wonders for opening up space, but it’s also great for improving the light flow. Many bathrooms struggle for natural light, with small windows and cramped features. A mirror helps bounce the light around, and improve the space. Best of all, the look fantastic, don’t they? Search for one with an ornate pattern to add extra character.

  1. Rustic features and vintage charm

I love to mix modern features with vintage characteristics. The kitchen is just one example where you can use modern appliances against rustic wooden features. The bathroom is another place you can get quite experimental. I suggest hunting out a unique vintage cabinet or table from a local flea market or vintage stall. The contrast against the stainless steel features is quite striking. You can also use all sorts of vintage items to add personality to the bathroom.

  1. Lighting

Great lighting will completely transform the look and feel of your home. Nowhere is this more obvious than the bathroom. Let’s face it, no-one wants a sharp burst of light when they stumble into the bathroom at 7am. Instead, install a dimmer switch so you can keep a soft, warm glow in the room. I also like to use a small lamp to give the bathroom a softer feel. And, of course, don’t forget about the candles. There’s nothing better than a candlelit bubble bath!

  1. Upgrade the shower

If there’s one big change or upgrade you can make, it’s replacing the shower. I don’t know about you, but I can’t handle a slow trickle of water first thing in the morning. Give me a power shower or waterfall head any day! It’s a relatively expensive upgrade, but it will make the world of difference. After all, you need something strong to wake you up on those winter mornings.

  1. Spa luxuries

Finally, don’t forget to include a few spa luxuries. Your bathroom should feel like an elegant spa retreat with lotions and treats. The most important aspect, of course, are big, warm, fluffy towels. These should be at the top of your priority list! Leave them hanging over a heated towel rack, so they feel amazing after a bath or shower.

That’s all for now, folks. I hope you find a little inspiration for your own bathroom! Until next time.
