Crock-Pot Pulled Pork

Another amazing crock-pot meal has surfaced! Remember I made the “Beef in mushroom sauce” recipe with 7-Up in it? Well, this is another recipe involving pop. Root beer to be specific. A co-worker of mine was raving about a pork loin recipe where all  you do is pour a can of root beer (12oz) on top of 2 pounds of pork loin and heat on low, 6-7 hours. Then you shred the meat and add 1 bottle (18oz) of your favorite BBQ sauce and mix together. What does the root beer do? Once you taste it, you will find out! The root beer makes the flavor so sweet. It takes away from the strong barbecue taste and tones it down, into this delicious, unique meat mixture.

This is paired with buns, so it becomes a sweet barbecue sandwich. I opted out of using the buns, because we do not eat or allow bread in the house with our diets. So we served the mixture as is. This is a great recipe for a gathering with family and/or friends. There is so much meat, expect to have leftovers for the next couple of days. I do not know what it is with these pop recipes popping up, but I am a fan! They are just too easy and you ask yourself, no way will this taste good?! Wrong. Get ready to be amazed because they turn out so delicious. Cheers to root beer!

A bottle (18oz.) of your favorite BBQ sauce, 1 can (12oz.) of root beer and 2 pounds of pork loin is all you need for this recipe

Place the pork tenderloin in a slow cooker; pour the root beer over the meat

Cover and cook on low until well cooked, 6 to 7 hours

Until the pork shreds easily

Drain well and stir in barbecue sauce

Serve with hamburger buns. I opted out of this step and ate the pork as is

What You Need:

  • 1 (2 pound) pork tenderloin (Serves 8)
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle root beer (I used Diet A&W)
  • 1 (18 ounce) bottle your favorite barbecue sauce
  • 8 hamburger buns, split and lightly toasted (I opted out of this)

How To Make:

  1. Place the pork tenderloin in a slow cooker; pour the root beer over the meat.
  2. Cover and cook on low until well cooked and the pork shreds easily, 6 to 7 hours.
  3. Note: the actual length of time may vary according to individual slow cooker.
  4. Drain well.
  5. Stir in barbecue sauce.
  6. Serve over hamburger buns
